Coffee County VINE Event Checks
A VINE event becomes more useful when it is matched to the system that reported it. If the person was visible in Coffee County custody and an alert arrives, ask the jail for present custody, the date and time custody ended, and the recorded disposition. A bond disposition means physical jail custody ended while the case continued. A transfer means another custodian took over. A court order should be reconciled with the local case, but the order may not show the exact time jail staff finished processing it.
For a TDOC event, FOIL adds the state context. Parole status supports release from prison into community supervision, while incarcerated status and a correctional Assigned Location indicate continued TDOC custody. Inactive status is strongest when no active sentence remains and completed sentence fields agree. RED alone is not a release event, and a Parole Hearing Date is not proof that release was granted or processed.
Conflicting timestamps can reflect data entry and transmission between systems. Record when each source was checked, copy the exact status language, and identify which agency held the person at that moment. The agency release record should control its own custody event. VINE remains valuable because it can prompt that check quickly, even though it does not certify the final disposition.
When a detainer appears, follow the named receiving authority. Coffee County or TDOC may have reported a valid release from its custody while the person remained confined elsewhere. VINE does not promise transport information, a pickup site, or unrestricted liberty after an alert.
Coffee County VINE Alert Limits
VINE is built for notice. It is not a certified discharge record, a court judgment, or a full history of every custodian. Data can arrive at different times across the jail, court, VINE, and TDOC systems. If VINE sends a release alert but the person cannot be located, read the event again and ask the releasing agency whether the disposition was bond, community release, transport, transfer, or detainer.
County jail and state prison events must remain separate.
